A Note from Pastor Marvin

about staff changes

Over these past few months at Elim we have experienced a number of changes in our staffing.  Because of health challenges, Pastor Mark Emde went on medical leave in the summer.  In September Pastor Josh closed off his time of ministry with us as he transitioned to bi-vocational ministry – working for a local company and continuing to serve so well in his role on the District Executive of the SK PAOC.  After 6.5 years of great service to Elim, Betty Danger resigned from her work in bookkeeping and finance.  Nastya Veronyuk whose friendly voice you heard on the phone when you called Elim on Thursdays and Fridays, left to pursue full time employment.  At the end of October Pastor Denver’s one year contract as interim Assistant Children’s Pastor comes to an end.  Pastor Denver has served diligently during a time of great change.   We are grateful for each one and pray God’s blessing on them as they transition to new challenges.

Along with these changes has come shifting of responsibilities for several staff.  Pastor Blaine has served at Elim for 24 years in the role of leading Elim’s worship ministry.  In September the leadership of music and worship ministry shifted to Pastor Pat Latham.  Pastor Blaine continues in his role on our Lead Team as the Sr. Associate Pastor as well as leading our Adult Ministries team.  He has taken on the portfolio of Pastoral Care that was vacated when Pastor Mark resigned.  Pastor Blaine is in a staff search for the person God calls to serve as our new Pastor of Discipleship.

In March, technical director, Lawrence Stratton quickly pivoted to focus on online services.  As Creative Director he will continue to function in this role into the future as we seek to strengthen Elim’s online community.  We are currently searching for someone who will take on Lawrence’s pre-Covid responsibilities as Tech Director.  As well, with so much of Elim’s ministry moving to social media platforms we are looking for someone to serve as our Communications Director as we seek to strengthen our ability to coordinate effective and creative communication of the stories and ministries of Elim.  Pastor Angela continues to provide leadership to Elim Kids. As limitations on gatherings are lifted we anticipate that the workload in Elim Kids Ministry will increase.  We are prepared to re-evaluate the need for an additional Children’s Pastor at that time.

These changes represent a shift for individuals and families.  Our prayer is that in all of these changes God would provide grace, favor and joy.

In Jesus,

Pastor Marvin
